Update(warning, this is a rant)
Went to pick up the head today. All the valves had been apparently removed and cleaned. Stuck my finger into the inlet port and there was the excess left by the original steam clean sitting in the ports(loose beady chunksof EGR crud). I hadn't left the premises yet so went and pointed this out.
Was told that this was not a problem. Asked then why did you take the head back and clean the valves in the first place?? No credible answer.
Asked if its not a problem then can you guarantee that this will not cause a problem within the next six months. Answer - no
Asked if you did pull the valves out to clean them, why did you not clean the inlet ports of this same crud that was stuck on the valves. No credible answer.
I am bewildered to the reasons why, if the valves had been out of the head, why a mechanic would not clean the same crud out of the inlet port at the same time when there was the best access to the port to clean it.
Hmmm..... possibly, they didn't do what they said they were going to.
The people who worked and are still working on this head charge top dollar. It is a great pity that they do not supply the same high level of service equivelent to the prices that they charge
They took the head back and the problem will be apparently fixed.
Cheers,
Jason

Hmmm.
Head appears to be have been given appropriate amount of attention.
Start putting everything together tomorrow.
A sigh of relief at having the head ready to go on, but frustrated at half baked service provided until an appropriate amount of foot stamping was done to achieve a professional amount of service.
Still unsure about the exhaust stud, but I need transport. If there is no update about the exhaust stud, then it has been successful.
Thanks for the replies to this thread.
Cheers,
