These EGR kits (made by Allard turbosport) have a fitting for a boost gauge.

I'd love to tell you how well made they are but I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered. Hopeful it'll arrive next week.

The Prosport guages. This is powered up on my coffee table before I installed them.

Have a settable peak warning that flashes the dials red and can also have an audible alert also. Settable dial colours for day and night which change with headlights.
Stepper motor driven and cost me about $160 for the pair delivered.

Aaron, either search for Prosport on eBay or "seller:warehouse_fc"
I set my searches for UK eBay.

Yeah, they're a good idea. I already have the EGR removed off my ride though. One thing I'm surprised about though is they add the boost gauge connection, but they don't have the EGT probe fitting in the blanking plate (most companies seem to include that).

They look like a nice set of gauges, but there colouring and style don't really match the Discos factory gauges.

The intercooler was changed with the facelift refresh. Apparently it was improved.
Every aftermarket replacement company believes that their intercooler is the best! They're also all very expensive (my previous experience is using universal intercoolers which are probably about a third of the price - essentially it is the same core, just with vehicle specific mounts and inlet/outlet sizes and shapes).
However, it would seem that there is little to no improvement replacement a refresh intercooler with an aftermarket one. Apparently the factory refresh intercooler performs well - the reason for this is that due to space restrictions, aftermarket coolers can't be any larger than the factory one, so the only difference is in the fin design and tank size etc.
A physically larger intercooler core would probably see benefits, but can't fit in the space available - I believe some people with Defenders have used larger universal intercoolers and plumbed them in with a bit of work and custom mounts and piping, but I can't see the room to do that on a Disco.
However, this may differ depending on the modifications, e.g. a VNT setup or high boost setup may see greater improvements.
Thanks for all of this. It was more meant in relation to your post about pressure drop across the intercooler. I think you said that standard there was about 2psi difference, but I was wondering what type of intercooler that was for and if there was any difference in pressure drop across the various options.

In terms of difference, I do run an aftermarket larger capacity intercooler, and the performance benefits are about the same as that given by the ECU upgrades, that is on top of the ECU upgrade. The passages in my intercooler at least are larger and they are also internally finned to increase the heat transfer, but I'm not sure how that affects flow. The extra capacity is also given by increasing the thickness of the core rather than by extending its length and height. The early intercooler used a core that was about half of the tank thickness, the upgrade intercooler was about 3/4 of the tank thickness and the aftermarket ones use the full tank thickness.

Here are some pictures of the standard intercooler:

and this is an aftermarket intercooler suplied by Tombie seemingly years ago now.

    Cheers
    Slunnie

Nice one Slunnie. I might have another look at replacing mine. PWR and all the British companies that offer the aftermarket intercoolers wouldn't tell me the size of the core they're using, as though it was some commercial secret!

I might speak to Tombie and see if he knows what brand/model that is.

Do you mean the internal size , ie related to flow or just the core size ? I had a few of them writen down somewhere , just the generic suppliers from the uk . Seems there was only a couple of sizes , will see if I can find it .

    twr7cx,

you've obviously got mad skillz on google. I've searched and the only pretapped blanking plates that I've been able to locate are sold by MadMan. Td5Alive, IRB Developments, AlliSport and Allard, plus the ebay vendors I looked at include untapped blanking plates with their EGR kits.

Could you share links to the some of the vendors that sell their EGR kits pre-tapped for EGT probes?

    cheers

Note these are the cores for the Aust. spec models with gearbox cooler or Auto trans.
The core tube type is more important than the actual total core size, (as seen in Slunnies' pics) some physically smaller cores can offer more cooling area than a larger core with inferior tubes.
For most of us without dyno, temp, pressure and flow monitoring, the cababilities determining which is best is really going to come down to the sales pitch and an eyball of the workmanship will be the deciding factor.
I ended up ordering the TD5 Alive cooler and boost box.
I havnt been give the actual core size but can easily measure that when it gets here. Alive Tuning assure it is 3 times the capacity over std.

    ASE core - 590x200x57
    AlliSport core - 640x260x40
    Allard core -500x330x60

    Here is the PWR spec

I started looking these up again today.

The intercoolers available for the manual vehicles are pretty awesome. They get a lot larger core in there.

strangy, I'm also interested in the TD5 Alive/Alive Tuning unit. So far from the previous two items I've purchased from them I've been impressed with their quality which leaves me thinking that their intercooler offering would probably be at least equal to the other brands offerings. I look forward to hearing the details on the core size from you.
Out of interest, did they charge you VAT on your order?
