    Front door control rod adjustment?

My drivers door quite often needs a second hard pull to open,,
it latches fine and unlocks fine.
Is there a quick way to adjust the vertical control rod?

I dont think you can adjust it without bending it.
If the striker is misaligned it can sometimes make it hard to open also.
Maybe a good lube of the mech with some graphite or silicone would help.

    cheers

Yes you can infact adjust the rod in relation to where it connects to the door handle. There is a threaded plastic nut fitting that unclips in half that would otherwise be attached to the thread at the end of the rod. You can adjust the rod up and down and then clamp the plastic nut shut. If you get it wrong, the door wont lock properly. To check for this, try opening the door once you have locked it.

I had the pleasure of doing this when I replaced the small motor inside the door locking mechanism. Have fun

Take a look at the last 3 photos in the pdf file i created and attached when i replaced the rear door lock, when i first installed the door lock i had to pull the ext handle all the way out and really hard, after the adjustment just a gentle pull is enough.
I don't have the disco at my work right now but check (as the last 3 photos) with a flash light to see if there is a allen bolt in there.
Hope you understand the description - english is my 3rd language

    Fatman-
there is adjustment externally through a hole in the locking mechanism??
when you say the allen key bolt was tight,, do you mean you have to loosen it to gain adjustment?
or was turning the allen key bolt the adjustment?

    LATE EDIT

    BRRR!
    baby its cold outside!

had a good look and I cant see any allen head in there,,

Yes,i had to loosen it,adjust and retighten it..

I'll take a look at my front door locks when i 've got a chance - it's almost 40 celcius today,i took the bike to work again today.
I am certain that the lock will have tons of grease,so i 'll start digging maybe this afternoon..
