TD5 Engine mounts

What type of noises can I expect from worn out TD5 engine mounts while driving?
I know they are sagged right down but have yet to really get any vibration at idle or stationary in drive.
At the moment I have a hum while driving that is steadily getting louder I think or maybe I notice it more.

I'm thinking Engine mounts, drive shaft (front greasible but maybe a little worn, Rear shaft has new donut and bush seems okay), wheel bearings (can't feel any play by hand on any), exhaust (new flex), T Case( output shaft play seems within allowable amount) or ACE (all bushes seem okay and changed the filter a month ago).

Could it be the mounts and can a change of direction like going around a bend change how loud it is?

From what I've read---
collapsed TD5 mounts make all sorts of noises.

Lots of posts with good results.

Just change them

Use genuine only. Non gen. have a reputation for making things worse.

Cheers

lrseries is a good website in the uk. I got my genuine for about 47-50 pounds each from here. i think in aus you are looking at about 150 each. Still worked out cheaper even with freight.

Big difference when done. Much less vibration. If your have collapsed then you are riding metal on metal, and all sorts of sounds may come through.

As said, genuine only. Mechanic took one hour to fit.

cheers

Thanks hastykiwi and extreme for replys.I know the mounts are definitely sagged so it will be interesting to see if it's hopefully the only contributer to the orchestra that's being heard at the moment!

Hop under and have a look, engine mounts are obvious , big rubber cubes between engine and chassis -- big is what they should look like, flattened out below a few cms and they need replacing-- increasing hums and vibes is a good symptom.

I ended up changing the RH side mount only due to lack of money. Got rid of the engine vibrations straight away and lifted the LH side mount off the bottom. I used OEM and not genuine on good advice from the boys at BOR as they use them in their workshop and when compared side by side, they feel exactly the same.
I think i have a combination of noises, mostly Maxxis tyre noise now.
