HELP, SLS 30 Amp fuse blowing and compressor not running

Just bought a nice clean example of a 2000 td5 discovery with ACE and SLS last week. (got sick of always fixing the old one, so thought would buy something a bit newer)

BUT, was going away this weekend so thought i would hook up the van to make sure the SLS was working and we can go away.

Surprise surprise, IT DIDN'T WORK Typical. And so the Land Rover blues start again..

First thing to check was to find the fuse, in engine bay, found the 30amp fuse/fusible link and it was blown. put new one in and it blew as soon as i tried to raise it with the manual button.

I am sure i heard it working once over the last week since buying it and haven't touched anything or taken it off road.

Prior to this it had not seem to have dropped at all, HOWEVER, after putting the van on, it now is sitting slightly rear down!!!

Luckily i believe i am covered by the 1 month statutory dealer warranty but as i am in rural WA and dealer was in Perth, i am trying to diagnose this so we can work something out.

Is anyone able to confirm that it is the compressor being stuffed that would cause this???

All wiring seems good, the car has never been off road and has been looked after really well. Being 11 years old, i am guessing it must just be time for it to go???

Any advise would be great so i can get this sorted before my holidays in a weeks time!!

    cheers

    Troy

I'm unsure how to advise on the fuse blowing, there's gotta be something else wrong in that particular circuit & the fuse is doing its job blowing before major damage occurs. Dont be tempted to put in a higher rated fuse, check to see if the blowing fuse is rated correctly for that circuit. Check your earth points are tight I'd think. My concern for you, & I may be wrong but in the state of vic at least, statutory warranty is only on vehicles 10 years old or less & those that have travelled less than 160,000kms. Do some digging in the laws that apply to your state but hopefully considering you've only had it a week, the dealer will comply in some way. My dealer didn't.
    Cheers

thanks for that, this does have one month statutory warranty (vehicles 10-12 years with under certain amount of km's)

This car has only done 127000km, and is well below the max km's for the statutory warranty.. waiting to here back from car yard at moment.

Fuse is blowing because the compresor is dead or you have a wiring fault. D2 wiring is very good, my money is on the compressor.

There are ways around the compressor as a stop gap measure,,

are you near a Pirtek etc dealer?

Disconnect the compressor at connector C0780 (black 2 wire connector inside compressor box), then replace the fuse.
If the fuse still blows, your wiring is shorting to earth somewhere.
If not, , check your compressor.

cheers, have advised the car yard of that fact (which the mechanical work shop that they use, also advised)..

Also advised them of the price of a replacement, and everything suddenly came to a stop!!! I now have to wait and see what they come up with...

Unfortunately they have the option of being able to swap with a working second hand unit. doesn't have to have any guarantee... just as long as it works - for the month of warranty...

what ever they do, i will be looking at wiring in the on board ARB compressor to work it somehow... have read a couple of the previous posts on this, though they never seem to read like they are straight forward and/or the steps aren't clear.. will have to see what i can work out...
