RAVE CD... is it good enough for an 04 D2 TD5?

    Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying a RAVE CD but some people say its lacking in many respects when it comes to models after '02 and also the TD5 section is not as thorough as the V8 section. Does anyone have any advice on what i should get? Is the RAVE CDII the best option or have people gone with other things?

    Thanks!

all the information you are likely to need is in the Raves, you just need to know where to look.

fair warning, (based on previous personal experience) If you dont have the mechanical intuition to work out where else the bit of information you are looking for might be hidden within the RAVE theres every chance you shouldnt be doing the work unaided or paying someone else to do it.

    Short answer - Yes

Longer answer - I'd agree with blknight.aus - it has a very technical approach in some areas - eg electrical connectors.

I've also found as said above a little initiative is completely necessary, the search function is great but very narrow, various different names for the same part or component makes it difficult but I found that by cross referencing with the table of contents is most helpful. It took me half an hour just to find the configuration diagram for the 4L V8, serpentine belt, drive belt, fan belt etc etc. Turns out, in rave at least it's referred to as the "Auxiliary Belt" . Once you've found exactly what it is you're looking for the info is fantastic, I needed to replace my PAS pump, two printed pages + another for the belt configuration & she's all done, & I've kept the pages in a plastic sleeve in my laptop case for future reference. Follow the procedure step by step, don't be tempted to jump ahead as it'll bite you in the ars in step 9 for sure.
I wonder how long it'll be before I need a folder just for the pages I've printed ? Lol
Soon enough I'll be able to start selling the rave cd in book form

Ive a D2a- some specific things for this model are missing on the RAVE (i.e. headlights etc.) dont worry about it, most of what you need is there -- buy it, it will be the best $10 - $15 you will spend.

It's what LR techs use, so it could be good enough for me. What more would you want?

Holy hell. Its only $16. Click on the shop link at the top of the bar and spend the money. I mean I know generally landy owners are tighter than a fishes back passage but this takes the cake.

It'll save you squillions. Bought myself one last week . Did you know it sux that you can't read sarcasm. I am joking. So dont get yer knickers in a twist. I reckon its good value for money.

There is a RAVE that covers DII's from VIN 3A onwards.

A mate bought a copy from eBay UK when he had a 2003 DII - it covers everything on the vehicle, including all the 'facelift' changes.

    .

It also covers Freelander 1 2001MY onwards.
