    Sloppy steering

    Hi everyone,

    I think I am noticing more sloppy steering on my disco and also a bit of a noise when turning the wheel. What could this be?
    - steering dampners rooted?
    - CV joint? I don't think it's that type of noise
    Anything else?

    Sloppy steering will usually be one of :-

    1. tie rod ends
    2. Panhard rod bushes
    3. Steering box or steering column joints or pitman arm loose on shaft.

    Lots of other possibilities including wheel bearings, loose wheels, other loose bushes both front and rear.

    The only ones that usually are noisy are loose wheels or wheel bearings, but tie rod ends can be, as can steering boxes. Need to listen to the noise to give an opinion.

    My noise guess would be PS pump,,
    and a quick check on steering box adjustment might cure it,,

    it did mine

    Mine doesn't make any noise but has some play, how do you adjust the steering box Pedro?

    mine was done at the last wheel alignment,,

    I'm sure the RAVE cd covers it.
