You may need to purge about 7-10 times in a row, then turn it over till it starts but not for to long IE more than a min or you can overheat the starter or drain your battery.
Hi,
Ran my disco out of fuel.
Purged the system as per manual and tried to start.
Engine turns over but wont start.
Checked pump fuse, ok.
Can hear pump working and after loosening fuel filter discovered pump is producing heaps of fuel.
If I have flooded the engine what do I do?
Any other suggestions on why it won't start would be appreciated.
Devo

I found that you need to put quite a lot of fuel in the tank before it will prime properly; 1/4 of a tank at least.
I recall reading about a computer system reset that might be worth trying also.
The lesson I learnt from my experience of running out of juice was - never let it happen again. It took me and three mates, 4 hours to get it going again.![]()

Out of interest, does the needle go below the 'E' line or does it run out spot on it? The missus seems to manage to run it pretty low everytime I get in it.
See page 93 of the owners manual(We'll thats the page in mine).
Basicly...
Fill with minimum 5 litres.
Key to "on" for 30 seconds.
Key off "for" 15 seconds.
Repeat six times.
Key "on" for 30 seconds, depress accelarator to the floor and "start".
As soon as it fires and runs ease the pedal off about 1/2 way and release the key from "start".
It should be running(It will blow a lot of black smoke so make sure the rear door is shut ect.)
If this fails repeat the process.
Foot note--Don't crank the motor for more than 20 seconds in any one period.
the needle goes below empty
Mines an EU3 ... twice we've run it out of fuel, I add 7L, purge 6x as per manual, foot to the floor (hold it there) and crank ... fires up in around 5-10sec's without any smoke out the exhaust ... too easy.

Pulling into a servo for fuel before running out is even easier
Method for priming:
Ignition to on..
Rapidly press accelerator pedal over and over (about 6 times) until lights on dash light up..
You will hear it prime...
Throttle to firewall...
Turn key and keep trying for about 5-10 seconds..
If no start turn off ignition and repeat..
Do NOT keep cranking over 20 seconds... You'll burn expensive things out![]()
Hey Tombie ... last time swmbo ran out of fuel (she's responsible for both times btw), she was in the driveway entrance to the servo ... no one in the servo (staff or customers) would help push the D2 to a bowser, so she locked the doors, rang me, and went shopping
... and it sat blocking the servo driveway for just over an hour before I got there to do a recovery.
The accel' pedal & lights thing ... my D2 doesn't do that. Have tried.
