    Exhaust ideas stock D2

Hi all - I have a small split appearing in my muffler. It needs replacing now - 180,000k and split its up for a newy. In my D1 I had a bloke fit up a system (3.9 stock) that sounded insanely loud. He changed it at no cost to me and got it bang on as a nice set up. I will go back to him for the D2, but he did say it was tricky setting up Rover V8's for a nice note, but not to drone on the highway nor be too loud under hard acceleration. My D2 is a manual.

Has anyone managed to keep the stock resonator/replace resonator and have a good set up with a new muffler? I am thinking that stock pipe size is still fine. I just dont want that initial "Oh Cool!!" 17 year old reaction in the exhaust shop and then having to live with it is just too hard - likewise though the stock system is just a tad TOO quiet for me..

    Cheers

I had a sports muffler installed to replace the centre & left the stock resonator in place.

    Sounds nice

I was recommended to just replace the centre muffler with a truck style/high flow muffler and leave the rear resonator to eliminate the drone. The standard pipe size is ok unless you want to spend heaps on extractors and cats for minimal gains.

    Hi Ozscott

Fit a lukey offset sports muffler and leave the rear resonator, makes it sound like a V8 but not overly noisy.
that's what i have done to mine very happy with the exhaust note
    and cost about $180 fitted.
