Just because it has 5 cylinders doesn't mean it's related to the Td5 at all. The ford version will be common rail instead of Unit injected and most likely VNT as most PSA engines are. I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like, 5 cyl common rail would sound interesting.
Now that I have thought about it I do find it a little hard to believe that any company would try and make an updated TD5.
Whilst I love my TD5 disco it is nearly a part time job:D.
I would be very surprised if this new engine being spoken of is not common rail. There are a few 5 cyl CRD's on the market now from other euro co's so not as uncommon as it sounds.
Bet they didn't use a wabco abs system in the new ranger either:D (although I would miss my 3 year old saying "hey dad the 3 amigos are back") he even asks other people if their cars have the 3 amigo's:eek:
Wasn't the Port Elizabeth plant in South Africa the same factory that used to assemble Defenders that Ford closed when it owned Jaguar Land Rover?Quote:

From what I have readabout the ford TD5, it's made in the u.k then shipped to thailand. The same factory makes guess what..... the2.2 diesel used in the LR range anyone suspicious that this is a stroked storm yet?:D
A brand new Genuine Land Rover TD5 engine can be bought for £5,000 (without VAT). We can also get recon engines for less than that too.
The TD5 was the last engine developed by Land Rover. After that they use BMW/Ford/Jaguar/etc. So I doubt the Ford Ranger engine would fit. Well...anything can be made to fit...but it would be hard.
Would the TDV6fit in the hole? - Adapter plate co$t ? - Buy the engine from Ford (Territory)

I have seen a 130 built by J E Engineering with a TDV6. It was lovely. I asked them how much it would cost and they said it was a development one so hard to price, but they said about £25-30,000. Which I thought wasn't bad for a TDV6 130. But no.... YOU supply them with the 130...give them another £25-30,000, just to do the conversion! :eek:
