The 18 inch HSE rims are 8 inches wide, and I bet your 16 inch rims are only 7.

That would be why the 18s look more offset than the 16s, cause they are wider.

Pretty much what I just said before:

But from what I understand, from Googling wheel offset, it is measured from the face of the center that bolts on the hub to the inner edge of the wheel rim. If this is the case, then the offset is actually likely to be different on the wider 8" rims, as they are wider so the inner edge is probably further away from the centre.
Either way, they're factory wheels, so they're sizing and offset is fine and suitable for the vehicle.

    Digging up the past....

Hey guys, does anyone know if the RMA (NSW) will have any issues running tyres this size (or 275/65) on a disco with a 40mm lift with the new regs?

I have been running the revo 2 255/70/18 tires for a few years now and have found them great . Did a lot of towing, sand, gravel and off road too and only had 1 flat from a stake .

I do have a rubbing issue, at full lock the tire "just"rubs the radius arm but it is easily avoided.

The speedo reads about 12% less.
The only problem i have with them is they are not available in australia and so i have to carry a few spares when i go out bush.
Good choice in tyre though, smooth , quiet and reliable.

Offset is the distance from the centre of the rim either towards outside (positive offset) or the inside (negative offset).
The measurement you are talking about is the "back spacing"

All d2 16 and 18 rims are positive 57mm which means the centre of the rim is set 57mm towards the outside of the rim as measured from the centreline, and I'm pretty sure the 7" and 8" are all the same offset, the 8" just puts half inch inside and out.

265 tyres will just rub on standard rims, the inside rubs on the chassis rails, the steering stop can be adjusted to stop this.
Aftermarket rims with +35 approx will run 265 and 285 without rubbing, a lift required for the 285's.

Hope this helps....even though it's an incredibly old thread
