    Td5 engine mounts - replacement

Just wondering how much of a drama it is to replace these, mine appear shot (I think they're the originals - 270k).
Looking at RAVE it doesn't look too hard but I've been quoted 2 hours labour to do them and $165 each for the bits.
    As always, any info appreciated.

There is a tutorial by Pohm66 on how to do it.1 is simple the other not so but you can do it yourself with a few basic tools and a jack.

Look for his tutorial, I used it and had no problems.

If you get under the car and look at the mounts, they have a hole in the base of each mount about 3/8 dia if the rubber from the mount is touching or protruding the hole then the mount has collapsed.

Thanks Ean, found the thread you mentioned. Can I ask if the price of $165 each is reasonable?

I would buy genuine and not some aftermarket product from India or China.

You will be surprised at how high you will lift the engine to get the mounts out then new in.
Keep a good eye on hoses and wires, i had to disconnect a couple of things here and there.
Its a tad tight getting at a few of the bolts.
It will take you a few hours.

Ian, the price is OK if the parts are genuine. I found the only awkward bit was to get at a couple of the nuts involved. The only bits to come off were the exhaust down pipe and turbo (separately). Intercooler hoses were let go, as well as top rad hose.

I used a piece of 100 x 50 under the length of the sump to raise the engine.

All done in the driveway of #3 son's driveway in Fitzroy Crossing...never again!!

    Cheers

If you follow the tutorial I mentioned you dont need to remove the Turbo or the exhuast, but as mentioned you do jack the engine until the sound cover is touching the transmission tunnel.

Not sure on the cost , but anything with the green oval that costs under $200 is cheap from my experience.

Looks like the price I've been quoted is pretty good, they are genuine ones, Fred Smith won't supply anything else. Got a price from Ritters and they are $195 each.

I paid 55 quid each from Rimmers in the UK for genuine ones.

Postage was 85 quid though, but for the whole order that included a lot of other stuff. That makes a set for $300AUD delivered with free postage for a set of hoses, doughnuts and various other bits. I think the box was 12kg all up.

Now trying to find time to fit them!
