Question P38 auto oil cooler into TD5 D2

I've been doing some reading up on fitting a P38 auto oil cooler into a TD5 D2, but have found the details light on with no pictures. A few questions I'm looking to answer, so if anyone knows I would appreciate the info, or if you know any further websites to read on it, please link away.

Is it pretty much just straight bolt in (with the exception of the oil cooler lines that need to be changed)? Does the auto cooler use the same mount as the TD5 one or will custom mounts be required?
Is the auto cooler from a P38 V8 or P38 diesel? I haven't found a picture of a V8 one yet, but the diesel one I found on eBay looked a strange shape to fit in there!
Any easy ways of moving them somewhere else to fit the larger manual intercooler in from the UK?

I have an old one in the garage. What do you need to know?

    Pix?

It was replaced because one of the threaded fittings stripped owing to galling of the steel fittings onto the aluminium cooler.

Will take some this arvo. I suppose you'd like dimensions, too.

    Compared to TD5.

The reasons for not putting a replacement back into the standard position is obvious.

Consider this solution where you can clean it:

That looks like neither a TD5 or P38 cooler in there - different shape?
Also blocks the radiator and intercooler flow somewhat to achieve better auto cooler air flow...

Consider this solution where you can clean it:

If you service your cooling system regularly then you will be pulling the radiator anyhow every couple of years

Good time to check the cooler then...

Plus a lot of mud needs to be driven before its a problem...

And you can get to it from above without pulling the radiator

Its on the back of the grill, not on the front of the radiator. There is heaps of air that comes around it and from under/through the bar.

My radiator cleaning wand would never get down to the ATF cooler and you couldn't clean through the other radiator packs to clear the mud. Unless the radiator was pulled.

But I doubt may would do that every time it gets dropped into muddy water - it only takes one plunging to plug up the ATF cooler.

But, if people want to risk a few thousand in tranny rebuilds.... go for it.

    Cheers
