Any chance you can provide the dimensions of the P38 cooler?

I have the front grill off my vehicle at the moment. I can't quiet see where I would be able to fit it in front of the radiator. There is an electric fan and the canister thing for the air-conditioning in there that would be in the way. But it is hard to visualise when I am unsure of the exact sizing.

I have here a B&M oil cooler ( Polished Aluminum Transmission SuperCooler 7,500 BTU 11"x4-1/2"x1-1/2" ) that I was running as an engine oil cooler in my previous supercharged Ford Falcon. It is a perfect neat fit in there. I am currently thinking of just tapping it in as a second cooler for the automatic transmission. They have threaded fittings and are pressure tested up to 200psi so should suit fine.

I you look at Ron's drawing in post #17 the only change on the cooler I have is that it's 150mm tall not 75mm the other dimensions are the same.

my thoughts on mounting it was to use "P" clamps on the cross bars behind the grill.

I know this works, as I replaced the P38 cooler which was supplied with a crack in the weld this way!

A good bash plate under the bar work stops the mud piling in really well too...

And for other poster - full sized IC wont gain any benefit over improved unit for std area... Too large an IC will induce LAG that you will hate...
Efficiency and Flow are more important
Does that mean that the full size manual intercoolers sold by Td5Alive will affect driveability, even with mods like moderate (TRS) chip, EGR removal, silicon hoses, boost box? It sounds like it's going to be a nightmare to get it in place, but I've already bought it so will have to give it a go!
Always looking for creative new ways to get bogged... :whistling:

76 RR...sold coz fuel was expensive at 70c/l
    93 200 Tdi Disco...old faithful...sold to make way for...
    99 Td5 Disco ACE...nice drive...hopefully reliable...
