    Dash centre surround???

    Hi all,

I'm not sure what it is called but I am trying to remove the plastic surround/ cover that fits around the aircon and stereo. It looks like four to six screws at the bottom and then I don't know what's next. I have the rave cd and I have searched here but haven't been able to find any results because I don't know it's specific name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to remove the current aftermarket stereo and it is being a total pain in the ass. Hence I hope the surround can be removed???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    yes, it does come out.
First, remove the coin tray and ash tray. behind each there are three screws, undo them and then remove that assy witht eh cup holder.

then remvoe all teh other items, Iar con controls, clock etc. then you will be able to see some more screws holding it in place, about in teh middle.

The radio unit will be in a metal cage with those clips that can be a right royal PITA but now you will have some better access to get to teh side of them.

Also, on top of the dash is a grill tht can be removed (its easier if its broken ) and tehn you can get behind the radio as well.

I found when removing the factory radio that pushing the extraction pins in too far didn't work, only need to go in about 10 to 20 mm I think.

I have a Haynes manual but not here, if I remember tomorrow I shall post some pics

    Thanks Hay,

That's exactly what I needed to know. Yeah I have taken out the factory stereo and put in a new head unit but now I want to change that out for a new one and because it is recessed in now it's even more difficult to remove. I will try it tonight.

    Cheers

I have just been looking in the Haynes manual I have but there are no pictures that will help,

If you find those screws and work around I am sure you will figure it out
