I have a similar problem, but would like to lower the seat as well, as I am always looking through the tinted part of the windscreen.
I need to move the front seats on my my D2 back a little to suit my wife and son with long legs. I've only got stumpy legs so no problem for me.
Has anyone come up with a modification to do this? Searching the forums has drawn a blank.

Thanks, just what I needed..
Does this process also apply to Disco's with electric seats or only manual ones?
Cheers

I wrote up the initial project guide. How did you go with it? Unfortunately I can't comment on the electric seats - this project was only the manual seats. From what I've seen in the specs of the electric seat mechanism though, this proceedure won't work...
I'm going to have a crack at the lowering issue soon - I'll take photos as I go and post 'em up.

Bugger, an extra couple of inches would have been real nice! 😉
I tried to do the "stop pin" removal method as posted by schnitzel and found a small problem.
Mine is a 1999 D2 with manual seats.
I found that the metal pins within the seat rails both hit the limiting stops at the same time - thus making it necessary to remove both in order to gain the extra 3 notches of travel.
This is kind of hard to explain (will add a photo later) but it is now possible to take the seat back further than the extra notches that are now accessible. There is a section of the rail where the notches are that is solid - not far from the end of its range of travel. If I pull up on the adjusting lever hard enough I can get the teeth of the mechanism to ride up and over this solid section and make the teeth engage the notches on the rear side of the rail. Although I would not need that much legroom someone else might appreciate knowing that it can be done.
The only caveat with drilling both of these stops out is that the seat has less rail underneath it and feels a bit "wobbly" - this would perhaps cause problems over time on rough roads, etc. This wobbliness is evident when it is taken back past that solid section outlined above.
I'll take a couple of photos sometime and post them up here.
The final point worthy of mention is that when you create this extra legroom you will be unable to have the rear seat folded down as the two need to occupy the same space....Laws of physics and all that being what they are it it not possible.
Update.
Can't do the linked mod with electric seats. The screws connected to the fore/aft motors run out of length.
Back to the drawing board I suppose. If I come up with something I'll post it up.
