You're right about the depth of the output seal of the R380 - whilst the dealer was trying to do the right thing by replacing the those seals when in all probability it was the TC intermediate seal that was leaking, the output seal has to be driven all the way down to the bottom of it's housing.
If in the future you have to do it again, you can replace the output seal without removing the collar. Use a speedi sleeve a little bigger than the ID of the seal, and you can get it over the collar without damage.
