Bumps in road transferring to steering wheel

    Hi All

I drive a '99 TD5 D2, have replaced Steering Damper and Shock Absorbers, yet I get a lot of road damage transferring to the steering wheel, even quite light bumps, or if I go over railway lines it feels like someone is grabbing my steering wheel.

    Any tips?
Can I adjust the steering box?
    Anything else I should consider?

    Cheers

    Hello DCPAus,

Get a wheel alignment and wheel balance.

When I had my 2'' lift done there were very similar symptoms. I was told that a wheel alignment wasn't necessary. Well bullxxxx. get it done and it will stop the tram tracking and stop the ping pong direction changes over each bump in the road that you hit.

    PS. I have a 99 TD5 D2

    Cheers,

    Jason

Might be stating the obvious here, but check your tyre pressures aren't too high....??

    Hi

Took it in for balance and alignment, they didn't do the alignment as apparently the left Tie Rod End is shot, which is causing a lot of the trouble, wil replace it and then have it all aligned again, and see what that does.

Tie rod ends were the problem, replaced those had the wheels aligned and like magic the problem was gone
