    Load Rating

    Hi

Everything I have read suggests a Load Rating of 111/112, but I have attached a page from the owners manual that suggests differently.

    Hope this helps

As the chart confirms, the 16" XPCs were 105. As the vehicle weight doesn't change when fitting 18" rims, I have to assume that the minimum is no more than 105 even though some tyre sizes for larger rims might only be available with a higher rating.

Minimum Load rating will be based on maximum loading of the rear axle. Tyre size has no bearing on the matter

The D2 is rated for maximum rear axle loading of 1720Kg (coils) or 1800kg (SLS) and because this load is shared across the axle we need to divide by 2 to get the maximum wheel loading of 860kg and 900kg respectively.

So the absolute minimum tyre load rating that would allow you to fully load the D2 would be 103 for coils and 104 for SLS.

Bear in mind that the tyres maximum load rating is specified at the tyres maximum inflation, so you 'd need to run the tyre at maximum inflation if you were fully loading the rear of the D2.

The 235/70R16 Michelin XPC's (load rating 105/925kg ) have a maximum inflation of 51psi, and the recommended full load rear pressure of 46psi is based on the relationship between the tyres maximum load and maximum inflation, and the axle loading.

As Graeme suggests above, the standard fitment tyres listed in the manual are basically tyres with the required diameter, width, profile, and performance characteristics, which also exceed the minimum load rating required.

The tyre placard will answer all the questions.

Placard states 105/925kg as the minimum.
