I wish I'd read this post before organising a replacement windscreen via Affinity/CGU.
O'Brien's did the install, and the guy seemed pretty competent. He pointed out that he had fix a small leak on the passenger side. I had an inkling there was a leak due to a faint water stain, and a slight, almost undetectable dampness in the headlining after heavy rain. The down side I've ended up with a untinted, non-pilkington "equivalent".
This morning after the first rainy night we've had since then I got in the D2 with my OH, and discovered the passenger headlining was soaked to the point water is tricking down the outside of the A-Pillar. So much for fixing the leak - it's about 1000 times worse than what was there previously.
So in the end there is no upside, and I'm seriously p*ssed with O'Brien's.
I've taken photo's to document the leak and will be on the phone to the insurance company on Monday.

O'Briens offered me a Lifetime Guarantee on their workmanship (to the original owner), and a 12month warranty on defects with the new screen.
I guess you need to figure out if it's the fault of the installer, or because of the NG windscreen. If it's the screen, scream blue murder about not having a genuine screen fitted ;)

After fitting both genuine & after market glass for over 15 years the difference is minimal, the opti kool is just hype the only manufacture that makes a true cool glass is PGI as they have an extra pvb layer between the 2 sheets of glass. As for leaks it is quite common for the roof rails on the d2 to leak around the seal (personal exp with my own d2). The fitter should always replace the top mould & should double bead the screen.

It seems a little odd that the roof rail would suddenly start leaking a couple of days after the windscreen was replaced, don't you think? I'd washed the d2 the day before the windscreen was replaced and there was no indication of water entry into the cab.

And a word of advice, make sure you take detailed photographs of the front edge of the headlining and the plenum before you let a windscreen inst-mauler near the car.
The guy that did the D2 has cut the headlining and broken the plenum in at least 4 places that I can see. Insurance companies won't do anything unless there is evidence that damage isn't preexisting. grrrr.
