    Question water leaking underneath due to aircon?

    Hi,
    Hope you are all well.

    After todays hot weather and a quick errand to do with the kids, I decided to use the airconditioner and my newly installed centre fan (which worked a treat with pushing air to the cargo area for #3 & #4)....

    However, after 15 minutes of coming home and on my way out to hang a load of washing, noticed liquid coming from under neath. Upon closer inspection, it's water and seems to be leaking from underneath about where the console/handbrake sits (but underside - if that makes sense)...

    Not sure if anyone has any ideas as to what may be causing the water to leak, or if there is some overflow valve from the airconditioning unit, or whether it's a seal, or may need re-gassing (although so far no loss in cooling temp) *shrug* *shrug* *shrug*. I've not had this happen before either...

    Other than the airconditioning unit, is there anything else that would be leaking water (more like a drip at about 30 second intervals) from around that area that I should look at???

    It's condensation from the air conditioner. It's because warm air can contain more humidity than cold air. There are two drains under your air conditioner in the cab that dribble clear condensation water either side of the gearbox. It's 100% normal. What you worry about is not seeing the condensation under the car, because then its soaking your carpets.

    This is normal - condensation from the cooling system.
    It means your drain tubes aren't blocked up. If they were, you'd end up with a wet carpet instead.
    So all's good.

    That caught me out once, when A/C was still a very posh thing to have in a car in the U.K. (Not Rolls posh, but certainly Audi posh, for e.g.). Saw water leaking from below a lady's car in the servo, told her, & after several minutes trying to work it out, she said "Hang on, my car has air con. Could it be that?". Sad thing is I'm a fridgie. Boy did I feel a muppet! LOL

    I have always wondered if I should somehow position a container underneath to catch the water for washing up etc. I reckon you would get several litres a day on a long trip. Maybe just route the hose into a 5 litre jerry can with a tap at the back, or maybe a length of PVC pipe capped and tapped.

    I reckon quite easily Phillip,,
    on the first run home from Melbourne, I stopped and after a few minutes there were two big pools of water,, big enough to make me phone a friend!!

    and now I run with the rear on,,
    I get three!
