Thread: D2 radio short and no cig

Looking for help, my son has placed a 5c piece in the stereo cassette slot.......wife said smoke then came from stereo......now radio won't work and cir lighter won't work. Can get indication on radio as in cd number or radio station tuned into.....just no sound either radio or cd, thanks in advance.

Hopefully it's just a blown fuse if the cigarette lighter has died too.

The radio has 2 power sources - permanent 12v for the memory side & 12v from the accessory side to turn the radio on automatically.

I'm not sure how the D2 lighter is wired. My RR only has it operating on with ignition. Check the lighter fuse & hopefully that will be your problem (after removing the coin).
