without knowing exactly how large it looks like the spacer that goes in a neoprene rocker cover gasket to prevent overtightening of the bolts.

It looks to me that it is the Welch/core plug leaking.
I'm slowly pulling the heads of the V8 and am tracking down all the coolant and oil leaks.
The major oil leak was from the front valley gasket, it was hidden under all the top part of the motor. it was leaking approx 5oo ml of oil every 3 weeks and coating the sump and cross members with oil
Now for the OAT coolant leaks, I discovered it is coming from the left hand side front head gasket, I pulled the head and no internal head gasket leakage.
After removing the alternator bracket to reveal the front of the right hand head the oil is built up in the cup of the whelsh plug of the head.
All these leaks were difficult to trace.
will take some pics.
Boy are those head bolts hard to undo, needed a 4 ft piece of pipe for leverage.
I couldn't get the socket onto the further most bolt on the left hand head. After much cursing I discovered a small metal ring( don't know what is from), only a couple mill in diameter and height, but wedged up against that bolt it stopped the socket going onto the head bolt.
