My amigos disappeared whilst I was off roading the other day, stayed off for about 100Km's on the road until I just about got home. I'm wondering whether these units need some exercise to stop sticking valves etc?
My 3 amigos were once regular visitors but not permanent residents, there were no ABS sensor faults and the only fault I saw logged with the Nanocom was related to the shuttle valve. I have not seen them since I went to Tassie in August 2010 and have done about 40,000Km since then. I gave the TC and Hill Descent a very good workout on that trip. ie exercised the shuttle valve assembly properly. I haven't used the HDC since then but TC comes on occasionally. I,ve checked the ABS system for faults a few times over the last 12 months and there have been none logged.
The wiring to my ABS unit is stock standard with no modifications. The shuttle valve assembly was replaced about 120,000Km ago but the Amigos reappeared not too long after that.
Check what faults are logged, clear them, find a steep gravel covered slope and let the HDC do its thing. It can't hurt and may well solve your 3 Amigos problem.
'Use it loose it' sometimes works but the clock is ticking and it's only a matter of time before they visit more frequently. Option B sounds like your solution.

Well, to add to my woes, I was 4WDriving in the Lerderderg State Park on Wednesday and put a dent in the rear panel. To top that off, towards the end of they day when I was about to head off home the Disco started to run a little rough. I could also hear a knocking sound coming from under the bonnet. Fortunately I was near the the end of a track and close to a road. The Disco lost power and struggled to go over 20kph. I pulled over and then the engine just died.
Fortunately I have RACV Total care which gives me a free 100km tow - so I had it towed to Melbourne and late this afternoon I had it towed to American & British 4WD in Brooklyn. Pat had a quick look and he suspects it may be a faulty fuel pump. I will know more tomorrow. Hopefully something minor.
I would like to say a big Thank-You to OffTrack (Paul) who took the time to hook up his Nanocom to my Disco today. He discovered that there was a fault with the rear left ABS sensor - but the warning lights were not coming on. We looked at the wiring and Paul even plugged his spare ECU into the Disco just to make sure there wasn't a fault with mine - but alas, the TC, ABS & the HDC lights still didn't work - so this confirms my suspicion that the globes have been removed or the wires have been cut. Now to the arduous task of removing the dash to rectify that problem and also back to the mechanics on Monday to have the ABS sensor looked at - I had the rear hub assembly replaced a few weeks ago and the sensor comes with it.Quote:
