Time to fix my D2's Air Con...

    Hi all.

Haven't had much search luck (from my phone) so hoped you could help me out with links to relevant posts.

My D2 ('02 TD5) has issues with AC.

    - suspected blend issues (cold one side warm on other).
    - generally not as cold as previous D2.

Can I remove the aircon blender unit without evacuating AC gas lines?

Any tips/tricks for getting it in top order?

    Cheers,

    Wil

no tips but mine has similar blender issues, same lvel of cold as previous though. My limited knowledge of gas aircon systems indicates that if its not as cold then the gas level / weight is not the same or the radiator is congested.

will be providing moral support to see how you go and may have another go at mine!

the hardest thing last time i looked at it was access, its all behind teh dsh panel and I didn't want to take that out (space / facilities)

Don't do anything radical until it's been regassed. Plenty on here have had same problem solved with a regas, including me. Freezing my bits off now!

Sounds simple, but works and is worth the punt!

    Good Luck.

What about getting to the evaporator???

My RRC is easy to get to thru the top of the dash but isnt the D2 behind the heater box?

Had mine running the other day, turned car off for about 45 minutes then got back in and it smelt like a cross between a wet manged dog and a babies ****ty nappy.....

It either needs to drip tray cleaned, the evaporator fins cleaned or both.

Never smelt anything like it and really dont want to again.
