    Front suspension Click

    Hi all,

    I have a metallic "Click"when going over speedbumps or larger bumps in the road.
    It is on the driver front suspension, the hub bearing is on its way out and will be replaced over Christmas, but will that be causing the Click?, I have been underneath with a big bar and checked out the balljoints but didn't see any movement, but cannot discount them.
    Could it be the shock?, these will be replaced soon anyway as I am going a lift.
    All bushes seem o.k, and there are no unusal noise when turning the steering wheel etc
    There is no noticable play in the bearing, it is just noisy.
    What do you think?

    I would start by tightening the upper shock bolt ...Then check the body mount in the inner wheel arch at the base of the footwell for cracks on the chassis bracket.

    Thanks JC,

    I just went out there and had a good look over the mounts and no cracking, Good news.

    But I have found the cause, Even better!, My suspension is very sagged and I noticed that the front bump stops have been copping a flogging, When I moved the drivers side bump stop I was able to replicate the clicking, so when I change the suspension I will put on some new stops and all will be good (hopefully).

    Love the cheap fixes!!

    Just out of curiosity, what should the standard bump stop clearance be?, I probably have 20mm max?

    That's what it will be,my springs were sagged as well.Set of standard Kings brought the distance from bottom of rubber to axle to around 68mm.Have a steel bar,no winch.The car hardly ever bottoms out at the front now which is what i want.Note mine also has rear coils,not SLS

    The OEM distances are from centre of hub to bottom of inner guard,will have to look them up if you need them,or do a search,they are on here somewhere.
