Hey guys, what did you pay for these truespeed units please?
Honestly, can't remember, but was about the same price as buying from the USA (which is a nice change). If your looking to buy one, I would recommend waiting until we confirm that the replacements have fixed the fault.
For information on pricing I'd recommend contacting Michael directly on sales@4x4de.com.au
For any fellow members waiting on the replacement Truspeed unit to replace their faulty unit:
I have been informed by Michael on 7 January 2012, that unlike the original plan from 12 December 2011, in which the faulty units were to be returned after receiving the replacement, he now wants the faulty units back to him prior.
As at the 7 January 2012 he was unable to confirm if the manufacturer has yet to send out the replacement units.
I suggest to anyone that has not recently spoken to Michael (and/or sent him their faulty unit) to contact him at sales@4x4de.com.au
I have e-mailed him this evening and hopefully we will have some positive news.
Hi all,
Yes that is correct I need the faulty units back please so that I can send them back to the manufacturer. I'm in the process of getting 3 replacement units sent out. I was expecting them before Christmas as promised but nothing arrived. So I am in the process of chasing them.
I'm presuming the Christmas shut down period isn't helping.
I'll let you know of the progress.
But please send the faulty units back. From my calulation there are 3 of them. I have one already.
Cheers,
Mike:(
Update:
The new units have undergone additional testing on their components and have been shipped out by FedEx.
Update:
The replacement units have arrived and were apparently posted yesterday.
Fitted and calibrated my replacement unit today. All went well. Hopefully when I drive the vehicle over the next few days it will stay true...
Not sure what your doing wrong, but mine is accurate to +/- 1km/h all the way from 30km/h to 100km/h (haven't tested beyond 100km/h yet). I found while calibrating it, if it was out at a speed then it was out at all the speeds. When I calibrated it I did it at varying speeds from 30 to 60km/h. I then tested it on the highway and found it to be accurate their too, with no further adjustment required.
Yes if you calibrate it for 100kph, then it will be good right up to 100kph by 1 +/-, then start to get inacruate by about 3 to 4kph out at 110kph.
This is why I said if you calibrate it at 100kph, that will give you the best result.
The beauty about the device is you can set it for 2 different tyre sizes, especially good if you run larger size tyres for offroad playing and smaller for touring, which some do.
