I fitted my replacement Truspeed today & it's working as it should.
Thanks Mike for your follow up and support on this issue, it's good to see someone that backs up the products they sell.

I finally got a truspeed from Summit Racing from USA.
I installed it,set it and got my cruise control back again:D
But guess what...happiness lasted one day only, when i drove the disco next day the speedo was way off :(:(
I reset the unit, after 2 days same thing, this Sunday i went for a little trip (250 kms),at the beggining the speedo was 5klms slower, after an hour its was ok,sometimes speedo 5 klms faster.
Today speedo was 20 klms slower than actual speed.
Tried rewiring but ended up that this unit sucks:mad:
Summit Racing will send a new unit after i send the first on back to USA (at least a month delay),although the replied that have never heard of any problems with these units,so i tried goggle "truspeed problems" and "truspeed issues" and guess what...i am not the only one having trouble :(
Lesson learned, when you decide to buy anything, goggle for problems FIRST and then for the rest!!
I got a truespeed earlier this year and it was oneof the dodgy units. I got mine from Mike at 4x4de here in Oz. I had to wait a little while for the unit and when it was deffective I wasn't impressed. Mike was great though and sent me a replacement unit as soon as I got mine back to him. I haven't had any problems at all with the replacement unit and am happy as. What it did do though was remind me that it is best to try and buy stuff locally if you want some customer and warranty support - particularly on electrickery based stuff. It might cost a little more sometimes but ends up better in the long run.;)
I bought one just before easter from Mike here in Australia, haven't had any problems at all, fantastic bit of kit
The saga continues...
I got a replacement truspeed unit,i've got it instaled 3 days now,i covered almost 200 klms with it.
Day 1,i set it up,50 klms of trial drive for the first 45 klms reads speed as set, last 5klms reads slightly slower:confused:
Day 1 2nd test drive about a 15 klms drive,i reset the unit, stoped to fuel station,on the way home reads slow again.
Day 2 i reset the unit,i use the disco all day from beach to beach(slow speed no test done-haven't touched the settings).
Day 2 night drive(50klms) back to home.
At first it reads the speed a little low(actual speed 100kms/h,95klms ont the speedo),i say never mind, although i bought the unit to read the actual speed on the dials:(
Until i get home(and for 35klms) the speedo reads right:confused:
Today i took disco to work(12 klms to get there),speedo shows 90,actual speed 100,same difference on lower speeds),i lefted as is.
This afternoon, drove back home, speedo shows 100,actual speed 90,the exact oposite behaviour than the morning run:confused::confused:WTF??
Am i doing something wrong??
Are your truespeed unit read the same all day long or have little variations?
Thanks.
PS
I won't send the unit back again,if its faulty i'll open the box to see where i 've thrown my money to...
Send it back, the symptoms match that of the faulty units. Once you have a good unit you can tune it at all speeds and it will stay constantly true.
This the "replacement" unit..
The first one had the syptoms you described sometime ago, when disco stayed parked overnight, next day speedo 80 klms, actual speed 100,i reseted the unit, next day same thing but the "replacement" unit shows different speed within the same day without touching the settings at all.
I bought the damn thing to get the cruise control function back,i was used to the difference between actual and shown speed, with 255/85/16 and 1.4 transfer i get almost 41 klms/1000rpm so 2000 rpm is 80klms roughly,2500 rpm 100klms,3000 rpm 120klms etc.
I could live with the unit if it had the same variation all the time so i could keep the cruise control also..
Buy Online Digital Speedos speedometer, replacement speedometer, 4WD speedometer
These are worth a look,I use the HUD-09 model in my HG holden plugs into the lighter socket and uses GPS satelites for the speed, sits on the dash, no bigger than a cigarette packet.
