Which I know, as we all do I hope, is a little suspect in standard form. Although that is not a reason to neglect servicing or inspections. And lifting seems to only make them worse re increased angles.

Not having a go at all mate......i just referenced your comment to link the same event, sorry for any issues mate....just adding to the conversation. 
My old man is a mechanic by trade, regularly serviced his own cars and checked that LR had done their book service correctly, and no there wasn't any warning....and to top it off, the vehicle was completely standard...no lift.
The issue is that not all LR owners do know these faults because they don't join forums like this one, and don't necessarily associate with other well versed LR owners who may think to mention this in conversation.
