ABS Faults logged - a lot of them...

The first file in the above post is the LR diagnostic procedure for the 11.4 fault.
At the time LR were recommending replacing the SVS unit rather than the modulator unless there was fluid leaking from the switch housing.

I can't help feeling that option-b is just an "ugly hack", in that it bypasses rather than fixes the problem, whereas option-a an "elegant hack" as it actually fixes the cause of the problem. But that is just me :angel:

There are 2 earth points on the inside of the radiator support panel behind the L/H headlamp.
One of these is the earth for the Wabco unit and is bypassed in Option "B".

Mate - there are a few considerations to Option B. The possible repeating of the problem would likely take many years to show. Mine took 10 years to appear regularly due to the likely cracked circuit (but still to check all the earths - see above).

As a matter of interest Southside LR told me many years ago that a Wabco from LR was $4,000 odd.

They were something like that. I got mine replaced at 140,000kms (yes outside of warranty because the fault was logged in warranty) in prob 2008 and they said it was worth more than $3k.

I hadn't really had a look the SWO500040 part before, but it seems to be the best solution to the cracked solder joints that Option-B addresses.

It isn't cheap - the wabco OEM version is around $400 plus shipping from the UK. The part contains replacements for both the shuttle valve switch and the bottom part of the modulator that contains the connector which suffers solder joint faults.

Fitting the SWO500040 plus renewing the seals with the falcon works seal kit would effectively give you a fully reconditioned ABS Modulator. The 2 parts that are know to fail are replaced with new parts supplied by the original manufacturer so they are no more likely to fail than a modulator purchased new.
