Well Saturday came and went and i hoped i would be mobile with my new lr tanks BUT......i have been sold a pup. The main tank wont go all the way up to the cargo floor by 80 mm so an adjustment was made and in. Then the fuel pump will not be able to be removed without taking out the tank as it is too far to the rear.So some more adjustments. Start the rear 1/4 tank and i have had to cut a chunk out of it to fit in the right location at i think a loss of 1.5 ltrs. I have a fabricator mate comming over today to look at the mods and he will tig up the new recess in the tank tomorrow after he inspects the problems so far.
At this stage i am thinking i might be taking this all out again and putting the old tank back. Well i hope not and if i do it wont be for the want of trying to cut and shut my way through this mod. (all because i am sick of a few jerry cans)
    More later:

At 12L/100km that's 800km range ... two extra jerries gets you an extra 335km range for a total of 1135km.

At 15L/100km that's 635km range ... two extra jerries gets you an extra 267km range for a total of 902km.

... and if your doing 10L/100 then a tank & two jerrys will get you 1350km range.

As soon as there's room in the tank for a jerry can, put it in (and carry empty jerry's on the roof) ... get the weight low down asap.

For the price of 2x jerrys I don't think the hassle of a LR tank is worth it UNLESS you are doing major distances constantly ... or are driving a V8 !!

.... figures above are for a Td5 of course

    Tanks In

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...1&d=1326931815

Well the tanks are in and full of fuel 155 ltrs in all.

I am real happy with the job my mates did in helping me fit the wrong tanks to the Disco. We opened a can of worms and the job is now smick.
The pic is the cut and shut to fit the wing tank.
I also used the advise given and it was spot on thanks again.
