    Warn PowerPlant on D2?

We have a D2/2003 and are considering a Warn PowerPlant. There are the obvious advantages and disadvantages (single point of failure etc.) but the real question is whether anyone has mounted this winch "combo" to a D2 before and if yes, what bull bar did you use and what mods did you have to make?

I checked with ARB (like the Sahara bar) and they said nogo for the PowerPlant. Don't know whether it would just not fit out-of-the-box or couldn't be made to fit at all.

Warn only has stuff for American trucks so they can't help either.

Any insight would be very helpful.

    cheers

Hi Backball and Happy New Year to you too.

Your biggest problem is the distance between the chassis rails(crush cans) and the length of the motor. I had the same problem mounting the 9.5xp.

A further problem is that the PP is 50mm longer than the 9.5xp effectively making it wider than the whole chassis.

The only possible solution I can see for you is asking a fabricator to make up a custom bar with some sort of high mount cradle.

    Sorry I don't have a better solution.

    Regards

Do you have a 9.5XP in an ARB bar ?? did you have to "Mod" at all to get it in ? I nearly bought one but could not determine if it would fit or not so bought an XDC in the end.

Yeah, I had to modify the crush cans. The passenger side crush can has a cut-out for the 4.6hp motors. The 9.5xp has the motor on the otherside so I put a cut-out in the driver's side crush can (large enough for the heat sink on the 6hp motor) and welded the piece into the cut-out on the passenger side crush can.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks Guys

Devil 4x4 seems to have a bar which mounts the winch high as suggested by waz to get around the width issue. You have to get rid of most of the grill, though.

Electricwinchshop.co.uk also seems to have some Disco 2 winch bumpers for high mounts.

Will update you once I get more.

    Cheers
