    Front door mid speaker interchangeability

    Hi all,
Might be fairly trivial, but might be of help to others in future.
I've had to replace the small mid speaker in the passenger front door in the D2. I've got the top end Harmon/Kadon system, the same speaker used in lower grade systems seems to be identical in all ways except for the label on the front, and the connector on the back. Both speakers use the same 3 pin connector, but the different speakers use a different pair of pins for the signal. It wasn't too difficult a job to open up the connector on the speaker, and move the pin from one position to another, and all is sweet. If anyone is keen, I can put up a picture of the back of the speaker to show the connector and the change.

But it does beg the question, why would Land Rover do this? Same physical size, same plug, but different wiring. Is there a difference in the quality of the speakers in the two systems?
