Did the typical cleans and sprays last night and drove 50km to the mechanic, and no change in its power. Basically it gets to 80-90kmh and doesn't go much more. Hopefully he figures it out today and it's not too expensive. ;(

Turbo hose seems fine but problem not sorted. Got to wait for the mechanic to get the diagnostic tool for d2a and then he said it'll show up but still a mystery at this stage....:;(

Thats a buggar mate dam shame it wasnt the easy fix but then it just may be the MAF or something simple, i hold up hopes for your with your mechanic the one i went to was or is a rover specialist with the diagnostics and still couldnt find my fault even though it was a very simple fix so our fingers are crossed for you that its fixed and not too expensive

Mechanic called and....I've melted the cat! Well I'm not sure if thats the exact correct definition/description, but he said the honeycomb section in the cat has been melted into an almost solid mass rather than that honeycomb-ey style filtery thingamajig! So, he said that the engine cant push any gases/air through it like it wants to, hence I'm getting no power as described. It all makes sense to me. I see it as something akin to having a totally stuffed/blocked air filter but at the other end of the engine.

So yep the car is all fixed and running like it used to. The cat has been replaced and put in a straight through exhaust. It's running sweet! Not cheap, but not too expensive either, so I'm happy. It has quite a rumble to it now which is good!!! Thanks everyone for your comments and advice.
