Reading this post, was wondering if anyone knows of an alternate sump for the auto, like the one made for the TC (extra fluid capacity and cooling fins)?
Does anyone know the size (ID) of the transmission hose on the outlet of the original oil cooler? Looks larger than the standard 10mm transmission hose.
Don't know about the hose, but if it helps the steel pipe is half inch OD.

Absolute maximum temperature (can result in damage) - 149*C (300*F).
Maximum allowable temperature for short durations such as a hill climb - 135*C (275*F).
Normal operating temperature range - 80*C (175*F) - 94*C (200*F).
Minimum operating temperature - 66*C (once the vehicle has warmed up from a cold start).
I have just purchased the same auto trans cooler, looking forward to the before and after results, I will post the differences. I am about to purchase a nice wind up off road camper, thought I had better get the auto cooler sorted prior to starting to tow around tassie, can't wait.
Hi Toppa. I have all the goodies for the cooler install and will look at getting it in this weekend. If I manage to fit it into the kids parties, sport and theatre schedule I will take some pics for you. I have not been as flash with the fittings as the previous posts and have just sourced barbed hose fittings and good quality pipe and clamps. If you gets yours done first let me know how you go. Where how do you think you will cut in the new cooler? Others seem to have the hoses heading off to the rhs (drivers side) of the radiator. Just cut the hose and run the new one in series?
It'll prob make more sense when i have a closer look. Rave didnt have much to offer on the connection of the hoses.
Yes I have to admit I haven't looked that hard at it, and yes I noticed that others have plumbed into the drivers side of the orig cooler. On the quick look I have had it appears that the pipe going to the passenger side of the orig cooler is far more accessible. I did not plan to interfere with the orig fitting onto the cooler and will cut the orig cooler hose just prior to the fitting. I will tap into the cut hose with brass barbed fittings and run a send and return hose to the new cooler out front. I can take a picture of the bits I have sourced from enzed for the job if you like.
Oh and if anyone has any suggestions about the install regarding plumbing into drivers/passenger side of orig cooler please let us know.
