    SLS Intermitent Drop

    Hi all

Left rear side drops intermittently. Pull up on driveway in same spot, turn car off, and sometimes can hear a valve releasing the air and only left rear drops.

    Any ideas.

    Cheers, dave.

    how quickly does it drop?
most SLS's will fart when you get out,,
maybe the valve is sticking open

How old are the bags? If not a leak in the system as suggested above it will be a bag that's become porous. Quick change and relatively cheap. If you want to prove it you could even swap the bags over and see if it is the supply system or the bag.

    Hi Pedro

Yes when it is behaving normally it just releases a small amount when you stop the vehicle to level it out if uneven. However, you may be right about the sticky valve. It is definately not a leak from the airbag itself and is definately coming from the release valve. I am just not sure why the release valve stays open and releases all of the air from the left airbag.

    Cheers

    Hi JWB

The bags are the originals, have travelled 97000km.

If the bag was porous wouldn't it leak all of the time? This only occurs intermitently, like when friends with japanese 4wd's come over .

    Thanks

    Dave

You would think it would leak all the time but it doesn't seem to be the case. I think the leaks can occur in the folded area so are not easily found and the leaky area isn't always exposed. I changed mine at about 120k. From your earlier note it sounds like the valve is sticking. But whatever the case the compressor is the thing to be careful of. It's only got plastic internals and is not rated for heavy use i.e. keeping up with faults. It will fail quickly and is very expensive to replace.

Well here is my humble pie. JWB were right. Last 2 days leaking consistently and coming from the bag for sure now.

Any thoughts on bags and springs? I was always sure that I would change to springs and do a lift if bags failed. Now not so sure.

    Thoughts / experience?

Even though I did a coil swap I recommend you get new bags.
