I'm up the road in Bacchus Marsh.
Slip a PM if your interested after you get your hoses done.
I had the light on the other week too;)
I was looking at option B but when I test the switchs one was U/S.
A new set of switchs and all good.
Cheers,Kyle.

What was the cause of the diff failure?
Regards
Robbo
Hi Rob.
Sorry bout the late reply. Tbh I dont know what caused it. When replaced the thing was totally f'd, gears rounded as hell, the long medal thing was broken in two and the bottom of the housing was covered in shavings from the gears. It started when the car really started jerking when I put my foot on and took it off the accelerator. The 3 amigos came on but I couldn't do a key reset because I was in the freeway. When I got off they didn't go away. So I went and thought maybe in an hour they woulda disappeared. This wasn't the case and was still jerking. While in traffic I put my foot on the pedal and it lurched and heard something break. After which I lost all power as the rear drive shaft was now the path of least resistance, after I got home I realized I could drive it in 2wd if I had the hand break on and thus stopping the rear drive shaft and transferring it to the front drive shaft. Im sorry I can't tell you how it happened but that's what happened prior to the thing breaks. I don't know if the 3 amigos had anything to do wih it or if it was just a coincidence.
Hope this helps someone at some point.
Though I wasn't told directly it was the speed sensor and I am prett confiden it was. I got my lift done today and they checked my codes and fixed my LHR speed sensor (was dirty). On the drive up I could feel the car doing what it had before the diff went. After they cleaned it up there was nothing of the sort.
Hey there, cant be fully certain it was the speed sensor. All I can say is on the 1.5 hour drive in traffic, whenever I was about 30km or below the rear diff would kind of click. Whether I was accelerating or breaking. It's actually kind of doing it again but I'm not sure if a little bit of noise is normal or if I'm just being paranoid. The last thing I want is for the diff to go again. Anyways had the codes read and LHR speed sensor needed cleaning, was done and drove excellently on the way home, but I've been hearing and feeling the clicks a bit more again. Anybody have any comments regarding this? I've had a used diff replaced last month from a d2 that had 60k on the clock. Should I be hearing or feeling anything related to the rear diff? Thanks guys.
unless its some form of locker there are no "moving" parts in a normal D2 diff, which either go bang, whine or are silent.
Clicking is usually associated with CV's, which you do have up the front.
Driveshaft uni's tend to squeak,
Speed sensors work with the ABS and TC systems and dont make any noise at all;)
Hi pedro,
thanks for the info; I have since been doing some more research as the clunking noise when going from acceleration to deceleration and vice versa is still apparent every now and then. I have ruled out the diff as it is a new (second hand) one. Upon researching I found a site that states the splines? (dont know what they are) may be worn and something about slip yoke problems? does anybody know or can point me to a thread that addresses these issues in a D2? It must be something connected to the rear diff in someway as that is where I feel it from usually. I want to get this fixed asap before i wreck another diff... :(
Ive spoke to a guy who did my lift and knowa quite a bit about LR's. He said to have a look at the bushing and perhaps the rubber coupling. I have and there are no cracks going straight through the coupling but perhaps the bushing is worn. The are surface cracks on the coupling but nothing major, however I will replace it anyways and have bought a Hardy Spicer coupling kit from Land rover spares for 70aud posted. Hopefully it arrives soon before the clunking goes from every know and then to all the time. For those who dont know I have recently replaced my rear diff and this clunking was happening 10 minutes before it went and got progressively worse till it blew. I am hoping this is the cause of the clunking. The LR guy also mentioned the transfer case but he said it sounded more like the bushing and asked if I had a CDL installed and said that those without the CDL expereicned it more. I will let you know if this fixes hte issue when i get the part and replace it.
Guess I should give an update on this.
replacing the rotoflex and bushing did nothing to stop the "clunk".
It was only good for piece of mind knowing its done, Ive kept the rotoflex in the car in case something drastic happens. Turned out my clunking was from my transfer case possibly due to a lack of oil over a prolonged (dont know how long time), the LR specialist i took it to topped up and took it for a drive and said that the backlash was common/not to worry about on my d2 with 210k.
