Question Longer panhard rod for lift

I fitted a Nolathane 48810 ( Nolathane ) while doing my 4" lift. Big mistake.

It's an adjustable panhard rod, at it's shortest setting it's around an inch longer than the standard panhard rod:

When fitted to the vehicle, despite the 4" lift, at it's shortest setting, it pushed the diff too far to the passenger side. Causing the drivers side spring to rub on the bump stop and chasis rail:

Not sure what the purpose of this product is therefore, or who Nolathane had in mind when designing it.

If there's enough thread in the socket end, cut 1" off the socket and cut the bar to suit.

Why? Might as well just run the standard one! I just find it odd, as what application did Nolathane design it for if it's too big for a 4" lift?

Spoke to Red Ranger today and they suspect it was designed for the TDI Discovery 1's and someone just assumed it would suit D2's as well. They have agreed to accept it's return.

What about the Discovery 1 panhard rodd, is that the same size or longer?

Give APT Fabrications in Brisbane a call. I got an adjustable one for my RRC from them for $170. Not sure if they do one for a Disco 2.

Thanks, but they only do D1 and RRC.

It seems the D1 panhard rodd is longer by 40mm:

APT are working on D2 ones, give them a call or email.

Also there are two different lengths for D2's RBI100040 is the books RHD part no but after chassis YA (2A's?) they change length and are a bit shorter. Found this when I got a replacement 2nd hand one and was wrong. But was certainly off a D2 (not sure of exact model as most was missing) and was short.

I'll open another can of worms, what's the opinion of cutting, inserting a length of solid at the correct extended length, milling and plug welding along the length and also having a sleeve to cover the gap at the same size as the original OD AND a larger sleeve covering the two joins again?
