A D2 isn't most cars...

I have just lifted my D2a to 4". As a result of this both of my rear ABS sensors are disconnected as the lines are not long enough. I am currently driving around with the 3 amigos on the dash until I fit the Wabco extension lines that have just arrived from the USA.
Anyways, my point is that my speedometer on the dash is still working perfectly, with no ill effect from both rear ABS sensors being disconnected and therefore not providing a signal.
If the rear ABS sensors do have anything to do with the vehicles speedometer, it is a minor role, and there must be a main speedometer sensor elsewhere (or the front wheels signals are also used?).
the speedo gets an average reading of all 4 wheels speed, it typically ignores all sensor inputs that are non valid (either open circuit or short circuit)
try this...
even though you ABS warning lights are on go onto a gravel road and peg it into the brakes with one of the front wheels on a good solid bit and the other wheel in the slipery stuff, the sensors that are still working will still get ABS function.
