Just looked through the manual and did not find what I was looking for . Anyone know what the resistance is through an injector ? Want to test from the ecu plug back on all the injectors .
Thanks
Chris
Hello
I am about to go and have a read of the manual but thought I would post up hear first as I doubt I am the first with this issue and will get some better ideas .
2000 TD5 245km on the clock . Had it 18 odd months and it goes ok , done the head when I brought it .
The other day it started running rough as I was idling out of work , turned it off and back on and it was fine for the short trip home . Next day fine but today its back to rough running , not a diesel mech but its sounds like its dropping a cyl .
Checked for oil at the ecu and plug under the rocker cover and its clean . While doing this I figured out its only when its warm . I checked for faults and apart from a couple of usual ones ( gearbox fault and coolant temp fault , issue with the ecu ) I had no 1 inj high current and no 1 inj open circuit .
Cleared the faults and they reappeared and then went . Now the lacky that I am could understand that if the injector shorted out then it could go high current , but not if the the circuit is open as in broken . I did not record the fault numbers but I may go back and write them down in a few days .
What are the odds an injector is stuffed ?
Just what I need as I am moving house , luckly its only just down the road and I just chug along![]()
Cheers
Chris

Have a look for oil on the plug that goes to the ECU(injector harness) if it has oil on it, that will be your problem, just replace that and it should be fine, they are pretty cheap nowdays.
TD5 injectors are pretty reliable, very rare they fail.

Sorry if the post is in the wrong place . Shift it if need be .
Well pulled the ecu again to test the injector resistance and under the white cover I found some oil. The last time I had oil in the plug it was all over the place when you unplugged it and it was still running fine , so when I checked for oil the other day I did not pull the white cover . Anyway cleaned it out and measured the resistance , 1.4~1.5 ohms for all 5 injectors . Put it back together and it was running fine , took it for a blat down the road 15km to a mates place and all was good . On the way home it started to run rough again
. Get home and pull the plug off and no oil but no 1 injector is at ~70 ohms , all the others were about 1.8 to 2.0 ohms . I have been watching this for the last few hours , it peaked at 78 ohms and has been dropping off as the engine has been cooling and we are down to about 10 ohms now .
Will wait a bit longer and put it back together and see how it runs but I think I am up for a new injector . I am trying to move so do not have the time to swap them around to verify it , grrr .
Anyone else had this ?
Cheers
Chris
Well I sold my left one and brought a new injector . Spent a fun afternoon installing it and replaced the harness also . All seemed to go ok . Took it for a drive and all seems to be good . Any change I will let you know .
Cheers
Chris
