3/4 RACK WITH MOUNTS 1.8
Printable View
I was told they are getting the extended hieght attachment brackets to fit a discovery for the aluminium racks some time soon. Considerably lighter rack so Iam waiting for that.
So you'd go alloy for weight over strength? Also does a longer fit? Was thinking of getting a 2.2m in alloy vs only a 1.8 in steel. Making so,e sprt of low profile box to fit under the forward section where the roof drops.
I dropped into the shop today for a look at the 3/4 rack. The aluminium one looks good and is very light weight but he say it's not strong enough to stand in. I would be wrorried about hitting a tree with it as well. It still seems a well made rack for the price and ok for swags and camping equip. I would not be throwing a spare wheel on it though.
He tells me the steel one are bullet proof and would take a lot more abuse.
I'm thinking the steel one might be better in the long run as more versatile even though it heavier.
I forgot to say he also has the high brackets in stock
So after a little wait (3 months) i finally have my alloy 3/4 rack. Its light enough to lift it on myself, though i did scratch the gutters a little. Id use a second person next time but because no one was available i just did it by myself.
The high mounts cleared the roof rails with ease.
Quality is pretty good, a fair bit of weld splatter about with sharp points thst need attention but i couldn't be happier based on what i paid for it.
