Thread: HELP! Fuel spurting everywhere!

I have heard of others lowering/tilting the tank. Dropping the tank and removing the tow bar is quite easy. I found it harder to get to the cover plate over the fuel pump from inside the car. If you have a new hose, you could easily do the job in about 4 hours.

Ok ta. And as was said earlier, you think I'd need YNI 500030 ?

I had a major fuel leak last week, removed green line - OK, removed other 3 lines - all OK. All lines reinstalled, all done without removing fuel tank - not hard, but a but frustrating manouvering in rather limited space - but as I said it is doable. Reinstalling was relatively easy once I knew where each line went.

Thanks heaps extreme, very nice. I will make a few calls tomorrow and see where i go with it. i am kind of hoping either my mechanic (LR specialist) can get the part of TRS down south of Adelaide can get it for me, as those will both be wuicker than an interstate mail out.

A few years ago on a Simpson crossing a friend's Disco started marking it's territory. Being unaware of the ruptured fuel line problem we dropped the tank to find what the problem was only to find the ruptured green HP fuel line. Repaired with two part epoxy plus 'splint' hose and clamps. left to cure/set overnight and he drove back to Sydney on it no problems.
Had is mechanic replace it in 20 minutes with new hose while car was up on hoist while tank and towbar remained in place.

You shouldn't have a problem getting the part from TRS and if you have access to a hoist the job will be heaps easier.

By the way, 'extreme' is from Qld, I'm the NSW one.

Odd then that the first page of the recall bulletin says:

To:
All Land Rover NSCs/Importers – excluding UK and USA.

The recall should have been done in 2006, and you are unlikely to have much joy getting LRA to do it now if it hasn't already been done.

You can check if a Land Rover has outstanding recall/service actions on TOPIx - TOPIx

You need to register to be able to look up VIN's but it is free. The results from a vehicle lookup include a section Outstanding Campaigns. This will list any recalls or service actions that haven't been completed. There are very few D2's that have outstanding items listed. I've only seen one in all the VIN's I've checked.

I used a piece of EFI hose and 4 small hose clamps to repair the hose on the bend where it rubbed through. Cut the abrasion ends square, allow a bit for the flex hose, install and tighten the clamps (2 each side). The EFI hose is a tight fit. Make sure the other lines don't foul the repair and .... voila!

3 years ago, and still no evidence of problem recurring and haven't needed to replace the line(s).
