    Front and rear hubs. Same?

I crew. Had to happen. I have done both rear hubs now the front pass side one is on the way out. Hoping to catch it before it kills my not to old pads. I have a spare rear axle with a good hub are they the same front and back? They look the same on eBay picks. Cheers Matt

Given the "not serviceable" status of the front hub bearings, the number of which is still available as a part from bearing supplier has anyone attempted to replace only the bearings?

My problem is the oil seal can you track down a part number for the seal?

Anyone want to swap a rear hub for a front hub?

    Cheers

The front seal lists as FTC4822, the rear doesn't show a seal but an oring behind the hub/flange assy, FTC4919.

Can't get the seals, that FTC4822 is the axle seal inboard of the CV, not the bearing seal. The bearings are sealed and 1 piece. Yes there is a kit apparently but you risk hub distrortion during removal and refit due to 30+ ton required to press it out

    Just buy another hub

I was thinking more of heating it up or is that also an issue?

the reason you cannot replace the bearing is because the race of the bearing has the notches (pickup) machined into it for the ABS sensor, otherwise it would be easy to replace them as with the P38 which uses almost identical hubs.

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between a front and rear hub, the construction is the same, the ABS loom / sensor plug length is the only difference and that can be swapped between them.

THanks Panzer, I thought they looked the same. I will dummy fit the rear one I have and see if it fits,

However, I think on closer inspection it it the CV side that is weeping, the back of the bearing is bone dry,

I'll put up a photo later and see what you think.

    Cheers
