OEM hose clips - how good are they

OEM hose clips - how good are they?

Last service i had a new radiator and hoses installed and i notice coolant has been weeping at the hose ends and there is evidence of spray as well. I've never observed my temp needle go beyond normal position, just thinking - how reliable is the temp gauge is a question too.

Do other forum members replace the hose clips for worm drive ones??

Is it leaking from between the hose and the pipe, or out of the end of the hose (where the fabric is visible)?

The standard hose clamps work perfectly fine.

When you buy a new genuine hose they also give you new hose clamps with it.

I personally prefer the worm drive ones, for ease of use. Especially in tight spots on the TD5. Its really up to you.

thanks for the replies - i lean towards the worm drive clamps too and those NORMA one look the goods eh!

Today i topped up the expansion tank and noted that the cap wasn't fully tightened down (that'll be my fault) could this have caused the system to not achieve full pressure and the coolant to boil ?? or am i on the the wrong track so as to speak.

    Hello

I've had a factory one fail I remember years ago a magazine writer had one go too.. He had a white TD5...

I much prefer SS Norma Worm drive Clamps. Never had an issue with one of them.

Hi BigJon, looks like the weeping is from the hose / pipe interface.

I prefer the OEM clamps but I have the right tool to remove/refit them.

    on a different topic,,
it would seem to me the SMALLER the tube being flowed the harder it is for a MECHANICAL device to work,,

I would think at anything less than around
30mm a good tie wire should be employed,,

    opinions?
