It's not too bad, I did it when I changed my water pump. I think it was 10 mm and had 3 bolts 2 long 1 short. This link www.discovery2.co.uk - Workshop TD5 Water Pump Replacement. is for water pump but it also explains removing the centrifugal oil filter housing and the oil feed pipe.
Good luck with your job :)
Removed it this morning and changed the oil line. No dramas.
Just got back from hockey, had to purchase a new 15/16" spanner, as apparently I didn't own one already (which surprised me).
Going to have a go at the drain tube now. With any luck she'll be running this afternoon.
Success.
I snapped my 15/16" trying to bend it. Ended up removing the front exhaust pipe and fitting a shifter on it. It undid very easily and was not very tight!

tadaaaa.....told you it was easy with the pipe removed.
Maybe a "Crows foot" and a extension bar on a socket wrench would have worked better. Snap on make them as well as others

Hello,
I used a 24mm ring cut a groove out and kept cutting the shaft till it fitted also think about changing your oil filter spin on.
Once it is all together looks like you will have to remove the turbo to remove the filter there is about 3mm below the bottom of the filter and the drain pipe. I haven't worked it out yet !!!!!!!

Lucky you, my oil return is right under the filter which way did you do yours??
