    2001 Audio System fault

Power was disconnected (by mechanic) to car and now have problem with Audio System model 5780R

At first Code 1 appeared and did enter correct code
But would only accept first digit
After several (heaps) times trying the dreaded '---- -----' is appearing
Strange thing the on/off button doesn’t work with power on or accessory.

    Have tried the following:

    · Have disconnected power and reconnected
    · Waited 24 hrs. with accessory on and '---- ----' showing

And still can’t get the Code message to appear to retry

    Any help would be appreciated

I had the same problem as you.
Take no notice of what the display is doing. Just enter the code and it should work.
If you have tried many times to enter the code, it could be a few days before it will ask for the code again.
You'll just have to be patient.

    Hi Paulp,
I went through a similar problem some time ago on the same Radio in my TD5. I could never get the code to accept, then from memory if the code was 4323, I ended up pressing "4" four times, then "3" three times, "2" twice and so on, then it jumped back into life. I hope I'm not muddling this with my wifes GM car as I reset the radio in that around the same time.
Give it a go and I hope it resolves the issue.

Each time you enter the wrong code, after the first 3 tries, the delay time doubles. If you have had several goes, it could take quite a long time.

If you try MrBear's tactics and he is wrong, it could send you from a few days wait to several months rather quickly. I would look for a definitive answer before trying it.

I'm sure it took several days for mine to come good.

Then again you maybe waiting several months now.

Did try a plenty of times out of frustration possible now have to wait for months
    IF i press a preset number a "102 1 " appears and if I turn accessory off/on will go back to "---- -----"
Do I need the accessory key turned on for time to lessen or taking key out is ok

Just hope will get it working in 4 weeks heading to Cape will be a boring trip without

You could contact Go Technologies in Melbourne, the're the Eurovox importer.

Surely they could help, they made up a adaptor for me to convert the CD input to take an ipod a while ago.

Thanks Mrbear for your helpfull info all good now found the following information on there site

Why has my radio got horizontal lines on the display and is not responding to any buttons?
The radio has had 3 incorrect security codes entered and is now in lockout mode. For recent model radio's leave 1 hour (some radio's require ignition key to be on accessories). For older model radio's, remove power to radio by either unplugging radio or disconnecting the negative lead on the battery for 1 hour.

Just did as above and all working now

    Allso thanks everybody
