Paul,
That is correct, the picture is only there to show someone what they should be looking for on a transfer case when checking for CDL internals or not.

Late 2002 onwards (facelift front / new style headlights) all have the centre diff-lock, factory enabled with appropriate lever control in cab ... earlier model square headlight models ... some have CDL internals (but with no in cab control) and some don't ... as outlined earlier in the thread.
If it's a facelift model, it's got one.
Hi Fluids.
Thats not entirely correct !.
The majority of facelift vehicles do NOT have the CDL transfer box fitted.
It was completely deleted from late 2001 onwards, and was only then brought back as an option towards the end of the D2,s production. A few higher spec models in the range had it fitted as standard, ( ES premiums for sure ), including the lever assembly.
In true Landrover fashion though, they bizzarly still fitted the sticker on the centre consul, illustrating the diff lock operation even when the car did,nt even have the correct transfer box fitted. This sticker is no longer available anywhere, so many folk use the D1 one.
Cheers.

Del,
In Australia the CDL was installed on all facelift d2s. It wasn't an option.
Australian delivery discos don't have a direct equivalent UK model as a rule, even going back to 1999.
Cheers
Paul
All D2a's in oz had cdl standard.

Please accept my apologies Fluids, it seems I know little when it comes to D2,s sold outside the UK !!!:(
Over here, most face lift owners, not only have to buy a lever, but also buy and fit a transfer box.
Cheers for putting me straight fellas, and apologies again Fluids.
Cheers.
Del.
No harm Del :)
You learn something new everyday !
As I said ... all our D2 facelift models came with CDL fitted standard :p
;)
I always wondered how so many had said they had got the linkage of a scrapped D2 facelift. There was obviously a lot more fitted to Aussie D2,s.
Over here, second hand, genuine levers come up VERY rarely.
Funny though, as a friend of mine bought a BRAND NEW GENUINE lever, cable, bracket and knob of Ebay for less than £200 last year. That just goes to show that they are so rare, that people dont even bother looking on there.
Here it is next to one of my " phase 1 " levers.
