Recommended spares for Cape York Trip ?

good coms, good set of phone numbers, good credit card.

tyre repair kit, fan belt, cooling system hoses if you havent replaced them recently. generic fuel/cooling system hose, bulbs, tie wire Crank angle sensor.

I think the only spares we used up there were shock absorber bushes and a radiator. Don't forget your toolbox.

If I went up again I would take toolbox, only 1 spare tyre, tyre plug kit, spare shocks (mine run the same front and rear), shock bushes if you run rubber ones and a spare air and diesel filter. Oh, also headlight globes just in case you crack one.

I always take an old truck tube (usually get them for free from a tyre dealer) and big scissors or tin snips,depending on the thickness of the tube .I cut the tube into long strips of desired length and width and wind them round and round the broken parts. Incredibly strong!

I'll add to the list zip ties, (all sizes), several pairs of vice grips (for clamping/crimping off and holding together), some decent gauge wire, etc etc but DON'T take too much 'stuff'.

Pre preparation is a very important part of any long trip, do it before you leave, properly, and you shouldn't have to worry :)

I did two trips in the D2 & took the following

2 fuel filters
2 air filters
5l of engine oil
2l diff oil
small hose clips & short lengths of copper tube in small sizes & clear tube as well in case thedreaded fuel lines rubbed through.
jumper leads

Multimeter,socket sets,assorted hand tools(as few as possible so as to keep weight down)
Tyre repair kit with plugs & ARB air compresser
One jerry of fuel
Bits of wire & assorted stuff that often resides in the bottom of my tool box

All i used was one air filter & the fuel.

More important than any of this is good vehicle prep before you leave & also good tyres

Travel light & you will be OK
have a good trip

Don't forget a roll of gaffa tape. Indispensible.

You won't need any jerry cans for fuel unless you plan to venture to more remote parts such as Cape Melville or the Western side of the Cape, as there are enough fuel stops on the main route north. Of course if you have a thirsty V8 that might be a different story.;)

Why just to prove that a D2 broken or not can pull a toyo on a trailer all the way to the cape and back?

I hope some people are joking but will go with standard spares

I have confindance in my D2 to get me up there on the OTL.
I have owned a landcruiser before but would not trade my D2 for one.
