    TD5 Cylinder Head bolts

    Hello All,
Was looking over the engine and saw a red coolant on top of the oil filter behind the turbocharger, I assume that it is from the head so been looking at which bolts to buy, do go with Land Rover or a Britpart? lots of different ones even on flea bay. don't want to go to all the trouble and break one at the end of the job Thoughts please.

No difference between the two, have used both Britpart and genuine Landrover. Grease between washer and head of bolt and light grease on head before fitting. Torque is 20 newton meters 65 newton meters 90 degree, 180 degrees final 45 degrees , hope this helps you out

save the old bolts, they make great pegs and ground anchors.

If you dont want them, save them and I'll arrange a post bag for you.

Its probably just leaking from the core plug that is screwed in behind the exhaust manifold. Its unlikely to be leaking from the head gasket. Have a bit more of a look first.

There is a welch plug in the head above the oil filter which can develop a leak. It's in between two legs of the exhaust manifold so you'll need to pull the heat shield off to check. I believe this can be replaced without removing the head.

There is also a little coolant jumper hose down the back there hidden by the turbo. They do perish. They are a funny size from memory. A reducer I think. Have a fell around when the engine is cold or use an inspection mirror. The hose goes to an oil cooler ?
