Apparently it runs on 95 octane, but as with any european car it might be a good idea to use 98

My D2 high comp 4.0 says min 95 premium recommended. It pings a bit on 95 when I ran it once, so quickly topped with prem and didnt go back. Even on premium they sometimes ping a little when cold, so they need to be driven nicely until warm.

    Cheers

    Thanks guys,

that makes is expensive to fill

I have been reading posts from a few years ago in regard to V8 V TD5 and these ideas may be changing with the increase of fuel costs in regard offset to motor repairs etc in the diesel.

Pedro have you worded your reply well in saying that is what the fuel lid says but is that what you put in it? or just how you worded it.

Thanks guys just trying to work out engine options comparing to long term costs.

    very carefully worded
with LPG injection the ULP side is a negligable cost.

The D2a V8's run very hot and as lean as computers can make them,,

I would like to try E85 the V8's run,
I have heard some VERY good HP results

95 works fine in mine, 98 works better and gives better economy. I use either depending on price and availability.

    cheers,

i run mine on United Fuel E10 which is 95 octane, never had any pinging probs, not all E10 is 95 some are only 93. United E10 is generally a few cents cheaper than standard unleaded. Economy wise have found no diff between E10 and Premium 95 although Premium 98 is about 4-7% better depending on trip and load

Thanks for the info (dont stop adding however)

pedro when googleing the E85 I found they stated that it was only for Flex engines.

I wonder what it would do to engines that are not comparable?

My father in law uses E10 united that is 95. He says it is great!!!

Started out with 91 as didn't know any better, started pinging and was not happy. A few places arounnd Welshpool / Kewdale (WA) suggested my solenoid packs might need replacing whilst the forum suggested I try 95 or 98.
95 still pinged a fair bit but as ozscott indicated a bit of TLC and it runs as smooth as Jack Daniels on ice with 98
Cost... I didn't buy it to worry about the cost of fuel, I bought it because it was a V8 Land Rover

    Cheers,

    Peter.
